I have made many, many Gaian avatar edits before, but this is the first one I'm proud enough of to post here instead of just display in my edit museum thread there.

The Heath Ledger fans are going to hate me for this, but while I concede that Heath's performance was good, it only captured a small part of what the Joker has always been. But Jack Nicholson...! I tell you, that man was born for the role. He was the perfect amalgam of every Joker that ever has been and ever will be, somehow as campy as Cesar Romero while at the same time as twisted (though into a somewhat different shape) as Heath ledger. Yeah, the Joker is supposed to be no-holds-barred evil, but his method of being evil is through the corruption of these seeming symbols of innocent pranking: lethally-strong joy buzzers, squirting flowers filled with sulfuric acid, a gun that you never know whether it's going to shoot bullets or a flag... that sort of thing. In addition, the Joker I've always known has been, in every incarnation but Heath Ledger's, self-interested. Jack's was. He was also unquestionably a comic-book villain, something that recent superhero movie villains have simply not been.

So here's to you, Jack. You'll always be my One True Joker.
