Artist's Comments

Oh god I hate ropes even more than I hate cobblestones. All the tedium and none of the challenge! Ropes are such a chore!

Anyway, it's Mirkara, up in the rigging of some ship. I don't know where she's going, I just thought it would look nice.

EDIT: Well, looks like I got a DD. I must say I was ecstatic at first, but after reading what ^skifi said, I honestly can't be proud so much as sheepish and humbled. It's clear to me that I only received this honor because I whined about it, and that it wasn't because anyone was particularly impressed with my work. So here: A public apology for being a jealous and petty bitch. I've learned my lesson, and learned it good. I will never again complain about what the gallery directors decide they like. There are hundreds of people - nicer, more talented people who aren't obsessed with being famous - who deserved this more than I did. I'm sorry, and I wish this had never happened.

Lookout by ~plangkye, a never-featured-before artist, is a really nice painting doing with outstanding details (for example the hair and the figure fur) and well-matched colours. I hope this helps to promote ~plangkye's art giving her more exposure, and also letting you get to know another good deviantART artist at the same time (Suggested by ~Shcaradeus and Featured by `skifi)

The ropes might have been a pain but the effect is just wonderful!

Nurture your mind with great thoughts; to believe in the heroic makes heros.

I was just looking through your gallery, and when I saw this I just had to comment!

For the majority of the paintings I viewed in your gallery, I'm not overly fond of your people/center of focus, as there is usually something off about them. I don't know what it is, unfortunately. I'm sorry to say, but this picture is included in that. I think it's her neck; it's too long. Also, I think (not quite sure) the way you've painted her back/torso in comparison to the way her hips and breast are showed, it's facing the right a little too much. If that makes sense :P

What I'm trying to get at though, is your absolutely breatakingly detailed backgrounds! In this picture, you've captured a wind-swept beauty of the ocean (something I'm luckily able to enjoy, where I live :)). The closer part of the ocean isn't (sorry) as well done as further on, but all in all, it's completely amaing! I love the boat out gone yonder ^-^ The detail you've put into your ropes is really nice also, but I expecially enjoy your ocean.

<.< Nice khajiit-ish character...makes me want to pull out Morrowind and play it all over again...

If a crazy undead lich hits an idiot Ascalonian prince over the head with a magical ice cream truck in the depths of a parallel dimension and no one else is around to hear it, does the water STILL make a splashy sound?
:iconganheim:
I have to say, this is very well done. The water looks realistic, there is an impression of wind blowing against the character, and though you may have hated the ropes they look like ropes, and not cheap banded lines.

Just because it can be explained doesn’t mean it isn’t the will of God.

Oh my god. The hair. And the fur, and the mail, and...hell. Everything. You've achieved a new level of quality with this one.
:iconplangkye:
Her neck's too long? Funny, my cat's neck is definitely that long in comparison to her shoulders...

--
Would you care for a cup of tea with your egg?
:iconacerynn:
-shrugs- It may be like that for you cat, but since you've turned her to a humanish character, the neck it too long. My opinion only :)
:iconplangkye:
She's actually an old D&D character of mine.

Oh, well, I thought she looked like a khajiit.

If she's not, she's certainly a close look-alike.
